Pashly is anti-heroic, abstract disco songs drawing on many different traditions; Performance that combines secret Buddhist dance fractures and western diva posturing; Video that glamorizes cellulite and hair falling out; lyrics that expose breakdowns and champion reclamation; crafted props and costumes that move in and out of real time and virtual space. Pashly is determined to show a woman defining herself, in fantasy and reality, in a world where women are forced too often to submit to the definitions of others. Work wrought from sensitivity and keen observation, to show the world Soft Is Not Weak.
Pash was a fixture in the experimental/underground music and performance scenes of Olympia WA and in Portland before moving onwards to New York City, The Midwest/no coast, and soon, Europe and beyond. Pashly has performed with Yelle, The Blow, BARR, Lucky Dragons, Jenny Hoyston, Calvin Johnson, KAP10KURT, Scream Club, High Places, Dynasty Handbag and YACHT, amongst others. Pashly has played a variety of music venues, colleges, and galleries across the nation, including The Knitting Factory, Ladyfest Olympia, CMJ music showcase, and PICA's Time Based Arts Festival. Pashly was recently included on the first musical compilation of the internationally-based GLU (Girls Like Us) magazine, along with the likes of No Bra, Telepathe, Bunny Rabbit, and other really terrific bands.
