just to remind you what we are speaking on, please watch this beautiful video for the song that has been blowing down for a year now. this is the first of 3 releases for them over the course of the next year and what can we say besides we love them, we are honored to start off the charge and GET THIS EP!!!!!!!!!!!

the long rumored matte black editions compilation is out for the new year; and as promised, its a collection of punk rock / new wave / lo-fi / neue deutsche welle / dystopian post apocalyptic wasteland influenced electronic music chosen by the masked figures of matte black for you to download (for free) and discover. as such, the compilation is entitled “la verità ed il senso emergeranno” (italian), which loosely translates to “the truth and the way will come to light”; so grab your shades motherfuckers.

this is merely volume one in a ongoing selection of compilations that we will continually release via matte black for free download. ideally you will like some (if not all) of these groups so much, that you will follow their solo pursuits and tell them that we sent you. you may even see a few of them pop up on later releases.

dead times (travis bunn & calvin markus) make dark, surreal, aurally unsettling, lynchian art-punk that paints nightmarish wet-dreams vivid enough to make frank booth blush. they have released a small collection of freely downloadable, disturbingly beautiful works with esoteric names like, “a loose portrait of body”, “nature nosebleed” and “midnight glass” that reflect the immense depth of their art. the black pine circle EP, the groups first effort with briefcase rockers / matte black editions, plays like the soundtrack to a lost david lynch short about teenage angst in a post apocolyptic wasteland where kids snort crushed quaaludes off pretty hate machine vinyl. good enough to use rolled up $100 bills on… get your fix from all digital retailers that matter (itunes, amazon, emusic, rhapsody, etc, etc).

It was really surreal.  Got a new guitar player, Ryan…he’s the sweetest guy and we are very stoked.  recording is taking its time but will be awesome!

while we are prepping the LEADERS. compilation (always all caps) for release in a few weeks, we are going to spring a free compilation from the matte black house on those that follow the mythos. it will feature old and new people doing what they do best (which could be anything, but in this instance it will be music.) on the way to sound infamy. this isn’t the official cover, but since I “own” the label it will be the working one until we get a new one that is better. the italian name is cool and all, but it is a interim thing too…..
